Family Week

It's been a full house and full week with everyone home, and it's been wonderful. Avi seems like a good guy, and we've enjoyed introducing him to Minnesota, snow and cold included. We braved an outdoor Vikings game, four hours of 12 degrees, and although we tried to dress warmly, we decided that the foot warmers in our boots did not help one bit. The heated bus waiting to take us home was amazing, though, and we were proud of ourselves for lasting the entire game. Go Vikings!

Katie made us a Katie breakfast of sautéed kale and red onion with poached eggs and Ezekiel toast. It was yummy, of course. Old friends have been over to visit, and Tristin is loving all the extra attention.  I don't want to think about Friday when they leave, so I won't for now. It's been a good week.

Christmas 2015

Katie and Avi made it home safely, and the snow didn't even start until after they arrived!

Dad's been feeling a bit tired from chemo, so decided to stay home and rest, but we'll drive out to their place today so he can see Katie and Avi. We'll bring some lasagna with, and of course Mom made her famous apple pie ...

I'm feeling blessed to have everyone home safe and sound for the week.

Wishing you all a peaceful holiday season.

Four Days

Four days until Katie and Avi come home.

We now have a clean fridge and tupperware drawer. Yesterday in a frenzy of what must have been nervous energy, I pulled out all the expired bottles of who knows what, emptied them, and tossed them in the recycle bin. Then I vacuumed and scrubbed out all the shelves. I don't think our fridge has EVER been so clean and hygienic ... This morning I awoke to the sound of Bruce emptying out the tupperware drawer in quest of organizing matching lids and containers. Wow.

I think our kitchen should be in good standing.

Five Days

Things are moving along. Most of the gifts are wrapped, ornaments are on the tree, and decorations are pretty much done. I've had to spray the cats a few times with water for attempting to climb the tree or chew on it, mostly Tristin and Minnie Mouse, but so far so good. Wine and bugles have been delivered. House still needs to be cleaned. Who am I trying to fool? Still lots to do!

Chickadees have found the bird food wreath! So sweet to see, and the best wreath ever. I'm thinking it might have to be a new tradition every year. Thanks, again, to Debbie for the wonderful gift.

Five days until Katie and Avi come home! Tristin will be so happy to see his mamma, and hopefully he will be a good boy with all the extra people in the house. Still trying to figure out the food situation, but that will happen.  :-)  We'll have appetizers on Christmas Day, and lasagna the day after so Mom and Dad can spend a little more time with Katie and Avi. Other than that, I have no idea.

Onward.
