Mom turned 89 this past week, but if you were to ask her how old she was, she would tell you that she was 86 ... or maybe a little bit older ...
We had a surprise birthday party for her at her place, and she seemed so happy to see everyone! We brought fixings for crispy tacos, her favorite. And, of course, sweets like pie and cookies. Chocolate pie for sure, which is her favorite, and Katie made an apple pie using Mom's famous apple pie recipe.
Little boy was thrilled to see all of her stuffed animal kitties on the bed, and was able to entertain himself quite nicely playing with them.
It definitely was cozy with so many people in the apartment, but I think it was easier on Mom this way. Sometimes it's confusing for her to leave the memory care area and come back in. I'm not sure how we'll handle the holidays coming up, but we'll figure something out.
I feel grateful that I still have a Mom to celebrate these things with. 💕
