Jake's Birthday

Jake turned 29 this month, how can that be? When children are little, it seems like there's so much time to be had. Then all of a sudden, they're adults and you have no idea what happened!

So we met for a Hibachi dinner at Kobe last week, the venue of choice these days for birthday celebrations. Baby Daniel also attended, and did amazingly well, moving from lap to lap. 💕  I then asked Nick, who has a birthday coming up in August, what he'd like to do for his birthday, and guess what he said? Kobe.

Lakefront Music Fest

Some friends invited us to go with them to the Lakefront Music Fest in Prior Lake this year. It was a big deal with 32,000 people attending over the two nights, and of all the bands that were performing, we were able to see REO Speedwagon and Lynyerd Skynyrd!

I was impressed with the stamina these old rockers had, and being in their 70's, too. Just wow. (I was also in awe that we were even there for such a long evening ourselves 😂 and didn't get home until after 1:00 am) It made me think, and reminded me about how important it is to not just give in to growing old, but to actually try to continue living the good life!

The food was expensive ($10 for a corndog, $8 for watered down lemonade), plus the lines to the Porta Potties were long, but it was SO interesting to people watch, and the music brought me back to the days of a younger me, which is so wonderful.

July Book Club

We can get kind of silly

The Book Club Beauties met here in July. As usual, we ate good food (too much good food) and had good conversation. It seems that life has been so busy for all of us that our meetings have settled into an every other month schedule. We'll meet again in September, and our assigned book to read will be Dear Mrs. Bird by A J Pearce. And in case you're wondering how in the world this book was discovered, it was found in a Little Free Library, of course!
