April Book Club Beauties
The Book Club Beauties met at Mona's on Sunday, April 19th. We had all finished reading Emma by Jane Austin, and discovered that it was quite delightful. And, it was pretty much a marathon book to read, with three volumes of about 19 chapters each, in Old English style of wording, too. We had to encourage each other via text to stick with it, and were all quite proud when we each finished just in time for our meeting.
Cathy discovered the library Libby app, and had listened to the audio book version. What a great idea! I found a printable picture of the Village of Highbury that I brought with for us to study. I wish I'd thought to look for one earlier while reading as it probably would have helped me visualize things better.

Mona always has such a pretty set up when she hosts our meetings. Kat brought us all some farm fresh eggs! I started thinking about what gruel really tasted like, and am thinking of making some in my crockpot. Cathy gifted us each with an emotional support pal. Which is kind of what we are to each other!
Our upcoming reading will be another Jane Austen novel, Pride and Prejudice, our next book club meeting planned for early June.

March Book Club Beauties
The Book Club Beauties last met here on Sunday, March 22nd. As mentioned before, our reading of Mr and Mrs Bo Jo Jones was so vintage that it was no longer in print, and quite a challenge to find. I had a copy that was hanging around in our basement, and Kat actually found a copy at the downtown Central Library. According to Kat, it was in a room called The Stacks, a place "where older books live." 😃 She also said that the book shelves do "that cool sliding thing." For some reason I envision her scouting around in a dungeon when I think about that ... Some of us also watched the 1970 Made For TV movie starring Desi Arnez Jr as Bo Jo. Of course it didn't have the same amount of detail as the book did, but that often seems to be the case.
We had our usual yummy brunch and catch up on life.
Our next reading will be the classic Emma by Jane Austen.

Daniel Turns Three
Daniel's third birthday was on Easter this year, and Katie and Avi hosted an Easter dinner plus birthday party for him, the theme being Super Heroes. Quite a few of the guests showed up in costume, which was thrilling for the little boys! Daniel was Batman, and Aaron was Toothless the Dragon. I chose Mighty Mouse (a favorite of mine when I was three, I actually wanted to marry him 😂) and Bruce was Clark Kent. Jake was Spiderman, Nick was Superman, and Uncle Mark was also Batman. Brianna dressed up as Jessica Jones.
