Debbie and Gwen

Gwen made the trip to Minnesota from Colorado to visit her mom in Cloquet, and we were able to meet up with her for a visit. We decided that it had been three years since we last saw each other, way too long!

This time we drove to North Branch and met at Perkins. (One time in the past we met at a casino in Hinkley which was okay, but it was dark and smokey and sad to watch seniors waste their money on the slot machines. I guess I should try not to judge.) Then we migrated to other places close by ... a bench at a motel where we attempted to take a selfie, a Dairy Queen where we got blizzards for dessert (yum), and then at Taco Bell where we drank pop and chatted. It was like a progressive dinner!

Gwen couldn't find her Bling Ring, so we weren't able to take a picture of the three of us wearing them. Maybe next time.

September Thing

I hope we have an Indian Summer.

So far the weather has been nice with plenty of sun, gentle breezes, and lovely night sounds to listen to late into the evening. We've resumed our after supper walks around Thorpe Park, and went to an Alley Party in St. Paul where Bruce sang with an old buddy of his from college, Leroy. (Leroy and his wife, Elizabeth, have the homeliest little dog named Gunnar who provided plenty of entertainment all on his own, chasing after the little boys and trying to nip their bums.)

Bruce's annual fishing trip with the Lost Lonely Boys is coming up soon, and he's been busy making his trademark fishing lures to bring with.

And when things started to slow down after Katie and Avi left, I thought I'd better start concentrating on getting more stuff organized and out of the house again, my never ending quest to simplify our lives. I'd been staring at all the sheet music piling up around the piano and spilling out of the piano bench for quite some time, and so took an afternoon to work on that area. It did take an afternoon to do because it was massive! I also found all my old books from when I took lessons as a child, and then had to spend time remembering all those memories! Ah, yes. This is why our house is a work in progress.

Mom and Dad both have late summer colds, which makes me think about the upcoming flu season. I guess I'll have to pray about things when that happens.

Planning A Wedding

Next April will be here before you know it, and the wedding planning has begun.

Tastings happened last week for both cake and food, and then Katie tried on my vintage wedding gown for fun. (It looked gorgeous, plus it's always nice to have options) We also had an interesting journey in our search of a veil, but that only added to the fun of our Momma/Katie day.

I love that we could do some of these things together, especially since Katers lives so far away.

Wild But Fun

We had an action packed visit with Katie and Avi, but now the house feels empty again!

Let's see ... State Fair, Twins Game, Vikings Game, BBQ's, visiting with Mom and Dad, Karaoke, late night games of Monopoly, driving to Winona to see Nick, shopping, wedding planning, Katie making us interesting food. Am I forgetting anything?

Punk loved sitting on Avi's lap.

Bruce got his crate of peaches.

I got some Momma/Katie time in.

We didn't make it to the cabin, but there's always next time.

And there might even be a chance of them coming home again at Christmas!
