Saint Patrick's Day

I decided at the last minute that I wanted to make a Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner.

I really do enjoy having people over for supper, and I like to make it special if I can, but this past year has been hard. Energy levels have been low. However ... I decided the day before, that this was happening, and with that came less time to worry and obsess about things. Bruce helped me pick up the house, and I chose the easiest recipes I could find. Dinner turned out delicious.

I found a loaf of Irish Soda bread at Cub, and bought it even though the bottom of it was a bit brown. It turned out to be pretty good!

We had fun. Mom and Jake were able to Skype with Katie, and after dinner I showed Mom old photos that a cousin of hers had posted on Facebook. It was so nice and relaxing. There is always some sadness over the fact that Dad isn't able to be with us, though. I imagine those feelings won't go away any time soon.

But, Dad seems healthier now that the flu has passed. And a quilting group from Wooddale Church gave him a beautiful quilt. There are some patterns of bears on it, and Dad refers to them as the bear family that are living there.

It was nice for family to be together again.
