New Year

Missing in action, that's me. Maybe it's not so bad to be spending less time on the world wide web. Perhaps more time spent on real life is a good thing. At any rate, life has not slowed down, so I guess I will just keep going.

There's been a flu outbreak at the Care Center this past week, and we haven't been bringing mom to visit with dad. It's been different not going to see him so frequently, but I understand the reasoning behind it as elderly folks are more susceptible to catching germs. I did pop in for a couple of quick visits and although dad seems frail, he seems to be hanging in there. I think they take good care of him, and for that I remain grateful.

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary this past week. The time hasn't been right for us to take a trip, maybe someday it will be, but at this time we just decided to take a week at home to remember. I made an attempt to recreate our wedding dinner ... Chicken Veronica with Wild Rice Pilaf, Caesar Salad, and Broccoli with Cheese Sauce. I made a version of our wedding cake, Poppyseed with Raspberry Filling. We drove out to see our wedding venue, the St. Paul College Club, took a walk around Lake Harriet where we got engaged, and stopped by our first house in South Minneapolis. So many sweet memories! We sipped on sparkling wine and watched an old favorite movie of ours from 1987, Adventures in Babysitting. It really was a great week.

I now have my own office and new space for Little Bohemian Heart. (Thank you, Jake, for letting me use your old room for this!) I chose a shade of lilac for the walls, and Bruce painted them for me.  He also bought me a gorgeous crystal light fixture for the ceiling. It sparkles like diamonds, and is perfect for a 30th diamond anniversary gift ...

As for even more news, Katie and Avi are now engaged to be married. It won't be until spring of 2018, but it's added a new, happy twist to the coming year. Yay for happy things to think about!
