Baby Boy

We made it out to Maryland to meet little Aaron Raziel ...

First of all, he was absolutely perfect. I know that is probably something that a grandma would say, and I know that we are also probably biased, but still. When I first held him in my arms, I found myself thinking ... I am your slave! I will do whatever you bid! Seriously, though, I can't describe just how hard I fell in love with that little boy.

It was nice to do some Mom things for Katie, too. I've always loved taking care of people, and it felt good to be needed. We did a little cooking and cleaning while we were there, plus lots of baby holding.

Speaking of which, I was a little nervous about holding a new baby again. I've had lots of practice, of course, but that's already been years ago. Luckily, it came back almost immediately. Diaper changing, too, although I let my guard down once, and if you've ever changed the diaper of a little boy, you know what I'm talking about.

We squeezed in watching a holiday movie, Jingle All The Way. And we exchanged gifts early as they won't be back in Minnesota for Christmas. Bruce made a bunch of bugles. Bruce also wrote a Christmas song about a new baby boy, titled Aaron's First Christmas.

We skipped the road trip thing this time, and flew Spirit Airlines. We splurged and got Big, Comfy Seats both ways, and they were nice. We found some roomy backpacks that worked really well for our carry-ons. And then the airline randomly assigned us TSA pre-check on the way there, not sure why, but it was appreciated. Not on the way back though, and then it was wild. I now have a memory of me standing in the body scanner, and the screener repeating ... ma' am ... ma' am ... put your arms up ... ma'am ... 😂. Guess I learned a few new things. We think that the next time we fly, we might try the regular sized seats, cheaper, and probably okay for a two hour flight. I'm glad we flew ... we were gone from home for pretty much the same amount of time, but then with them almost double the time.

There's also a possibility that Katie and Aaron might stay with us for a couple of weeks in February while Avi is away on a work trip!

Wonderful. 💕

So Many Reasons

What am I thankful for? Let me see ...

I'm thankful for a warm, comfortable home to live in. With plenty of food to eat. And sweet smelling water to take long, hot showers. I'm thankful for our gas fireplace to sit in front of, especially when it's really cold. And for our weirdo cats, who always join me when I'm sitting there. I'm thankful for my family, my friends, and places where I can go to see and talk to people when I need that extra human connection. I'm thankful for the fresh, white snow and the bright, bright sun. I'm thankful for it all.

But ... right now ... I'm especially thankful for my first grandson. Little Aaron Raziel, I can't wait to hold you and kiss you. Soon, I promise. 💕 Grandma loves you so much already.

While We Wait

Bruce finished the tree before the snow came, and it's a beauty! It's a little worrisome to see him up on the ladder, but he thinks that maybe these lights will last another four years, and that's something.

The tree is up, and the start of Thanksgiving meal prep has begun. I am thankful for the distraction, too, as our new grandson is on his way! Hopefully we will have an extra reason to celebrate tomorrow. 💕

Now, on to the baking of the pie!
