Father's Day 2013

I was blessed to have another Father's Day with my dad and family this year. We were able to spend quite a bit of time chatting on the porch, and the Apricot Chicken I made was a big hit! Bruce went fishing with a friend at the lake Saturday night, but then joined us for the dinner in the afternoon. Katie had to drive back in the morning for work, and Jake ended up having to work just as the food was being served, but Nick came over for awhile and it was so nice to see him. It was a lovely afternoon.

Jake's Graduation

Our last baby has now graduated from High School. Jake graduated Summa Cum Laude and as an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction. We are just a little bit proud of him, but not only is he a smart one, he is incredibly kind and gentle.

We also had his Open House last weekend and survived! The rain held off until the party was over, which is pretty amazing as this Spring has been so unpredictable and we've had way more rain than sunshine. I made a ton of pulled pork, cheesy potatoes, and macaroni and cheese and let's just say, the eating will be good in this house for quite some time! The kids pulled out some instruments and jammed, and that really made the party. I also had wonderful help in the kitchen, and I am so grateful to Mom, Terry, Debbie, and Renee for all that they did for me. Terry made Jake a beautiful quilt and I have no idea how many hours went into the making of it, but many I am sure. I slept like a rock that night and then I was able to get up and go to all the other Open Houses on Sunday and enjoy myself.
