Beautiful Bellingham, Last Day

I woke up this morning feeling rested, and happy. The night was quiet, and I wondered if the person with the heavy pacing footsteps above our room had checked out. Or, maybe they were finally able to rest? Sleeping somewhere other than your own bed can be a tricky thing.

I added Raisin Bran to my breakfast, and grabbed another banana to take with us on the ride to the airport. Diana suggested that maybe we'd want to pick up a wrap the from the local co-op, which in retrospect would have been a good idea, but we said it probably wasn't necessary.

We went for a drive, and stopped at a park for Millie to run. I saw a Holly Berry Plant growing there, which was fun! Diana bumped into a guy she knew, also at the park with his dog, and had a conversation with him. Diana stops and talks to everybody she sees, whether she knows them or not. Then she introduces us to them. Why not? 💕

Bellingham Bay, a Bay of the Salish Sea

We went to the Care Center to say goodbye to David, and to greet some of the other residents we'd met earlier on in the week. We made another quick stop at Zaunich Point Park which is at the Port of Bellingham, overlooking Squalicum Harbor.

Within Squalicum Harbor, there's a dockside market for local fishermen to sell their fresh catch. It wasn't open just then, but Diana saw a guy who sells at the market, and stopped to ask him if he'd be there the next day. He said he would. Diana said she'd be there at one, and was interested in buying just one crab.

Our Airporter driver was a character, but he got us to the airport through busy traffic on time. We'd planned on buying supper before boarding the plane, but it ended up being a rush, and not much choice in venders. So, we ordered some ridiculously expensive burgers and fries, which were just so-so, and which took over a half hour to prepare. We ate them quickly, and got on the plane.

This time I was able to sit by a window.

The week went by quickly, and I'm already thinking of what I'd like to do next time if I'm ever in Bellingham again. Maybe take a ferry ride. Or, a whale watch expedition? Or, a visit to Vancouver? It's healing to get away from the responsibilities of daily life, it's energizing. I'll try to remember that.
