Daily Living

It's been a busy week, though if I try to list everything that I've done, nothing really stands out. I guess just daily living is plenty. I remain grateful for my job. It's a happy place to go to every morning, and I think I'll try to hang on there for as long as it makes sense.

We made another trip up north, this time to take a look at helping Mom and Dad sell their cabin. It will need some work, but Bruce has more time these days to focus on it, and for that I'm grateful, too. Anything we can do to help lessen their worries is good.

Jake came home for the afternoon on Sunday, and I made a chicken dinner. That was nice, to sit in the dining room with all my boys and eat chicken. The photo of him dancing was posted on Facebook from the college, but I think it's kind of cute so I borrowed it ...

Katers comes home in less than three weeks! I'm thinking it will be fun to try to do some summer Minnesota things when she's here ... walks around the lakes, a visit to the Arboretum to find Grandma Gloria's bench, maybe a trip to the zoo. We shall see.

Made a banana cake last night.

Still trying to master French on Duolingo.

I've sold a few Prom corsages for Little Bohemian Heart  but I now need to think up some new summer ideas for the shop, not sure of what that will be yet. Etsy has been good, but it's actually a lot of work.

Come to think of it, I've been learning quite a bit of new things lately, which has to be good for me and my brain.

Winter is Over

It finally feels like winter is over. Windows are open, cats are hanging out on the porch, and the frogs are singing! The rhubarb that we moved to the side of the house survived ... I think they're still alive, anyway ... and if they don't produce fruit this year, there is still some in the back that should. People are asking about Rhubarb Dessert, and I don't want to let them down.

We went up north last weekend, and spent some time cleaning out the porch. We took all the porch furniture out, and Bruce power washed. Then he power washed the inside of the porch and screens. We vacuumed out the boat as the Spring Fishing Trip With The Guys is coming up soon, and you have to have a clean boat for that.

Of course, Little Bohemian Heart has been keeping me entertained and now that Prom season is approaching, I'm starting to get some requests for corsages.

Things are okay, but things will be even better when Katie comes home in May ...

Gratitude

Our turn next to host dinner for these two, and I have no idea of what to make that will come close to the dinner they put on for us! I love that we can get together in our homes for the evening, so relaxing to eat and settle in cozy on the couch with a glass of wine, with no worries about having to rush.

Perhaps fondue ...

Spring Fever

I must have spring fever.

It's been a struggle this past week, to reign in the feeling of wanting to go out and spend money!

We ended up going out to eat THREE times, and that is just not acceptable. Taco Tuesday at the Red Rooster was fine, and I guess late night Happy Hour at Applebee's was nice, but our dinner at Don Pablo's was disappointing. It was fun to go out with the boys, but the next day we compared thoughts about our dinners, and discovered that neither one of us had enjoyed our food. Lots of money for no flavor, just a ton of salt.

And then there was this infomercial on TV about the Copper Chef Pan, and I was almost convinced that I had to have one. The apple pie they made in it looked amazing! But I made myself turn off the TV, and the temptation passed.

I wanted to go to Michael's and buy more yarn. But I didn't need more yarn.

So, I forced myself to start cleaning our room and once I got started, I began to feel less restless. Then I made a turkey meatloaf for dinner, which felt good. We went to sleep in a clean room, and woke up in a peaceful room, and today felt more settled.

We took a walk down to the beach and sat on a bench, listening to the water and the birds.

And this morning I put some spaghetti sauce in the crock pot to simmer so we didn't have to worry about supper when we ran out of energy and inspiration at the end of the day.

I think when I start to get restless about who knows what, it helps to get things in order. I need to remember this.
