To Good Health

Things are much better this week.

The sun has been shining, the snow has been shrinking, and I have been feeling more like myself.

The biopsies from my last procedure came back okay, which was good to hear. Not so good to hear was that there were already some other tiny stones starting up in the left kidney.

The Dr. said that diet doesn't really affect kidney stones much in the long run. Moderation in diet is best. The most important thing to do is to drink water ... lots and lots of water. Up to 2 liters a day.

Yikes.

I know this will be a challenge for me, to drink all that water. I've often said that when I am an old lady, they will have to force me to drink water with a big syringe.

But, I said I would do it, and I will. I've decided that water will be my medicine. It's cheap, it's natural, it's good for me. I will do it.

I'm already back to Curves and walking, and I'm even feeling up to getting the house back to order after the wildness of the wedding.

It's all good.

Patience

We're in the middle of an April blizzard in Minnesota, and there's really nothing to do except wait it out. It's been snowing heavily going on three days now, and roads are so bad that it's really best to stay off of them until things settle down.

I'm starting to get some energy back after my last procedure at the hospital on Wednesday, which is really good, but I'm restless and want to be getting out of the house! Instead we've mostly hunkered down in front of the fire to read and do Sudoku, with the cats doing their thing and mostly napping.

I made a venison roast in the crockpot yesterday, and today Bruce made us omelettes with the last of the ham and bacon we found in the fridge. I guess that's maybe a good thing, being forced to stay in and clean out the fridge instead of eating out so much.

But it's a test of patience.

I want it to be Spring.

Wedding Day

We had a lovely wedding!

The morning brought a houseful of laughter and fun as Katie and her bridesmaids got ready for the big day. It went by so fast and before you knew it, it was time to go to the College Club!

So many friends and relatives to greet, and then later, a wondering if everybody had been noticed and greeted enough. Weddings can be a Blur.

But, I think people enjoyed themselves. The food was EXCELLENT. And, the speeches were funny. Avi and his mom, Khana, were a hit on the dance floor, as were the two Uncle Jims.

Grandma Joyce looked gorgeous in her purple pantsuit!

And, then we got home after midnight to three very needy cats.

So much time and preparation to put on a wedding and then it's over in a flash ...

Yup

We had a nice Easter, and then things got wild.

I ended up having to go to the hospital, thinking it was another kidney infection but then found out that I also had a kidney stone. With only four days until the wedding, the timing was not good! Between the nausea and pain, it was pretty horrible, but the people who took care of me were wonderful and I'm so grateful to be on the healing side of things. I'll need two more procedures in the next couple of weeks, and now antibiotics and lots of water are my new best friends.

Last night was the wedding rehearsal and groom's dinner. I got out of the hospital two hours before it started, but I did have time for a shower before we left. I'm pacing myself today, trying to conserve energy so that I can enjoy the wedding tomorrow.

I guess you just never know what life is going to give you.
