New Yew

💕 Caswell Cooler 💕

The winter was hard on our yew shrubs out front. Some guy on the news suggested that people hold off a while before doing anything with dead looking shrubs and so we did, but our yew never came back to life. Bruce decided to tie a rope around it and pull it out with his car, which worked really well. He also built a sifter contraption to separate the dirt from the rocks. He spent a couple days clearing out the rock, and today we drove around to several garden places, looking for yew that might match the ones on the other side of the front door.

We found some (20% off, too) and brought them home, hoping that the rain would hold off. (We've had massive rain the last couple days and a lot of the state is under flash flood warnings.) And I have to say, I so appreciate how hard Bruce works. Digging holes and shoveling rock is hard work! I was there for moral support and tried to help out where I could, but he gets the credit.

Jessie hung out with us in the yard. She was a good girl and only ran off after a squirrel once.

We had just finished getting the shrubs in and the last of the rock on when the rains started up again.

We could then go in to enjoy our delicious macaroni salad!

I'm thinking that Bruce sleeps well tonight.
