The Best We Can Do

We decided to take a quick afternoon drive to the lake to see if everything was okay at the cabin. Other than one  dead mouse in the basement, things seemed fine, which was a relief. We haven't been able to get up there in quite some time, and it's easy to worry about things you can't see on a daily basis.

The roads were quiet, with very few people out and about. Even the casino parking lot along the way was empty, which was strange to see. Many of the resorts were probably still in off season, but I wonder if they'll be able to survive if they aren't allowed to open up for business soon. Happy's and Twin Pines are the two that I worry about most. 😞

It felt nice to step into the cabin, though. Normal and familiar. Katie and Baby Aaron were able to go with, and that was fun. We made s'mores in the microwave, and Aaron was wide eyed, soaking in all the new sights. That little boy is so alert that I'm sure he's going to be another certified smarty pants ...

We stopped at the McDonalds drive through on the way home, and I got a Big Mac. I thought it could be another familiar thing to have in an unfamiliar time, but then discovered that they had added ketchup and mustard to it, and that's just not right.  Maybe the workers were feeling off, too. It's kind of the world we're living in now.

And then I saw a sign along the road home that said, Pray Against The Virus. It's probably the best we can do.
