Messiah Sing With The Minnesota Chorale

A week ago last Sunday, we drove to Saint Paul to meet old friends, Mary and Mark. They'd invited us to go with them to St. Olaf Catholic Church in Minneapolis to sing The Messiah. We parked at their house, and Mark drove us all to the church. Though it can be exciting to go into the cities at night and look at the lit up, tall buildings, I have to say that we did appreciate Mark doing the driving!

I'd never sung The Messiah before, Mary either. Mark said that he listens to The Messiah at times, now that could be helpful in learning the music! Bruce brought his own copy to use from when he was in choir at college. We sat together instead of separating into choir sections, and lucky for me, there was a woman sitting behind me who sang a strong Alto.

Before church, we stopped for a bite to eat at Pauley's Pub and Grill, close by in their neighborhood. Mary and I had Cobb salads, Mark had a walleye sandwich, and Bruce had a mushroom Swiss burger that was interesting as it had melted Swiss cheese and mushrooms on the top of the bun. We don't see Mary and Mark that much in person these days, but it always feels like the good old days when we get to reminiscing.

All in all, it was a fun evening to socialize and stretch our brains a bit with trying to keep up with the music. It was also mentioned that maybe we do this again next year, I hope that we do!
