Trip To Salt Lake City (Day Two)

Wednesday morning arrived, and I think we all slept in. By the time we went upstairs, Dan had already made us coffee, and was working on a ham skillet breakfast. There were donuts, but not ones with fruit loops, as suggested... We brought our food out to the shared patio, and ate breakfast there. The people who live in the complex are very serious about decorating for whatever season it happens to be, and there was Halloween decor everywhere. There was a ghoul hanging from somebody's door that moaned when you walked by and in fact, the moan was the exact same sound as a truck yawning in a book we have that we read to Aaron. Just thought I should mention that.

Fountain at Rosie's

Rosie needed to make some phone calls to patients, so Dan walked with us to see the Utah State Capital. It was just a couple of blocks walking, but the streets are quite steep in places, even more so than in Duluth, I think. I felt a little winded, too, maybe because of Salt Lake City's higher altitude. Salt Lake City is located in the Wasatch Mountains. It was beautiful around the capital, and there are cherry blossom trees that line the walkways. They weren't blooming at this time, but I can only imagine how lovely they are when they are in bloom.

Next we drove to Park City, and walked through town a bit. Then up the mountain to the Stein Erickson Lodge, in the Deer Valley Mountain Resort. We ate lunch on the upper deck patio, where I had Butternut Squash and Cashew. After we finished eating, a chatty man from New Jersey stopped to talk to us.

Driving through the Wasatch National Forest was amazing. I found myself comparing the differences between Bellingham, and Salt Lake City. Bellingham has mountains, but they're in a rain forest. Salt Lake City has mountains, but they're in a desert. Seeing both areas in the month of October was very different.

Before heading back to their place, we drove by Rosie's place of work, The Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Shrimp Scampi

Then Chef Dan made us Shrimp Scampi for supper, and we talked awhile before heading to bed. What will tomorrow bring?
