Opening Up At The Lake

It's officially the beginning of lake time!

Last Thursday night, we decided to drive up north so we could put the boats in the water early Friday morning before everybody else showed up to put theirs in. It was fishing opener this weekend, and when there's a bunch of people lined up at the boat launch, it can be stressful. 😂 The drive was stressful, too, with a constant lightening show, rain, and even thick fog at some point that made it hard to see the road. It was a relief to finally get there, but then we discovered that the electricity was out. We decided to just go to bed as it was already after 10pm. And at some point, the electricity went back on, and then we had to get up to turn the lights off that had gone back on, and then the sump pump spent most of the night pumping. We ended up not sleeping much, and I was glad when morning came.

Katie and little boy made the drive up for the afternoon, which was great. Little boy tried on a life jacket, and walked around outside with Pop Pop. He sat like a big boy on the bench at the table for lunch. He did do a little scooting on the bench, too, but he was mostly careful to not scoot too far to the edge. Little boy also noticed the bee chair.

I vacuumed out things, and thought, that's pretty good for now. I remember someone saying that when they opened up their cabin for the season, all they did was sweep it out, and then they were done and ready to enjoy the summer. I like that idea! Seriously, though, there is a lot of work that goes with having a lake home. I guess you need to try to find a little balance because all work and no play is not good, either.

After we got home and tended to the needy cats, I checked out the moon situation. Gwen said there was a Super Flower Blood Moon in the sky. Looking online about that, they said that this kind of lunar eclipse only happens every 14 months or so, and that the moon should turn red over night tonight. I will be watching!
