Ladies Tea Bookclub

Our bookclub this week was at Mona's condo, and we had a Ladies Tea.

We all brought ladies tea type foods ... Mona ~ mini quiche and chocolate shortbread ... Sandy ~ raspberry-balsamic glazed meatballs and lemon bars ... Cathy ~ deviled eggs and blueberry scones ... Kat ~ small chicken salad/egg salad croissants and pink chocolate cookie bars.

And we wore hats. Mona's husband, Jim, was allowed to stay a few minutes in order to take our picture wearing them. We then decided to take off our hats for the rest of the lunch.

The book we read this month (and everybody actually read it!) was, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume. I guess it's a book geared toward pre-teens, but it was very relatable as it was written in 1970 about a girl eleven years old going on twelve, the exact same age I was in 1970. We decided that next month's selection will be more of an adult selection, Lady Chatterley's Lover by D.H. Lawrence. This book was once controversial, and banned in the U.S. from 1929-1959 for obscenity. Of course we need to read something that was banned. 😂

We did spend a fair amount of time this month talking about our book selection as it brought back so many memories of growing up in the 1960's and 1970's. But, also, I think that we've become much closer as friends, and I know that I feel loved and supported in this group. 💕 Close friends are a very good thing.
