Another Weekend

Debbie, Gwen, and I had another weekend together. It was tricky finding one that worked this time around because I ended up getting Covid, and then Debbie got Covid. I think we were beginning to believe we were invincible for having made it this far without contracting the virus ... just kidding, but maybe we thought it a little 😉. These days it does seem to be catching up with people.

Debbie said it was a celebration for my birthday, and had big plans!

Gwen bought us food from Olive Garden, which ended up being plenty of food to last for the weekend. The lasagna was delicious! Of course there were lots of sweets and savory snacks, too. Also key lime pie. Debbie made an egg bake with hash browns on the bottom, yum.

Debbie bought us tickets to take a walking Ghost Tour in Anoka, sponsored by the Anoka County Historical Society. They said it would take place rain or shine. We spotted an anvil cloud right before the walk started, and hoped the weather would hold out. About half way through, though, the lightening began, and we ended up getting soaked. It felt so good to get into the car and drive back to Debbie's!

Our guide was a guy who had been in the Marines (wish I remembered his name). He wore his uniform, and walked a fast pace. I wonder if he wore his uniform on purpose because it did give a solid appearance and image of authority, and it felt safe following behind him. He talked about the history of the town of Anoka plus stories people had relayed of living in homes that they believed to be haunted. It was interesting to think that many of these people were still living in those homes, and didn't seem freaked out about what they were living with! Before the tour started, there was an antique car show going on, with music and lots of people revving up their cars and showing off as they drove down the streets.

The dogs were good, too, and Gunner seemed quite content to lay on us while we watched our Sister Wives show.

There's always plenty to discuss after watching an episode of Sister Wives.
