Game Changer

As we drove up north this past week, we noticed that the clouds were kind of different. In fact, we talked about how they looked like they were flat on the bottom, almost like they were sitting on a shelf. We didn't think much more about it other than we'd never really seen clouds like that before. I took a picture with my phone, and then we forgot about it.

Bruce had moved the ladder on the dock to a spot closer to shore, and was that an amazing idea. Absolutely amazing. Why we didn't do that 25 years ago is unknown, but now getting in the water is so much easier as we don't have to navigate all the rocks on our way in. We took a dip, and the water was perfect. I even found some water shoes to wear.

We invited Curt over for supper on the porch, with social distancing of course. I made silver turtles on the grill, but only after we removed yet another mouse nest from the inside of it first. Wow, but those mice are determined. 😏 Curt brought over some delicious Moosehead Grapefruit Radler Beer, and we had a lovely time until the weather turned wild on us, and the sky turned dark and green. We said, should we even be out here on the porch? A loud crash of thunder, and bolt of lightening made the decision for us to go inside.

Then all of a sudden, all three of our smart phones were pinging and yelling at us to take shelter. It started to hail, and Curt moved his car closer to the side of the garage. Then we went down into the basement.

After a while things settled down, and Curt drove back to check on his place. He found that a neighbor had a few trees that looked like they had exploded, and also all the phone outlets in his cabin were burned out. Luckily nothing more, but the next day we found out that there had been a tornado only 12 miles away.

We also have a wren's nest just outside the screened porch, and I was happy to see that it, too, had weathered the storm, with Mama Bird still perched on it and watching over the family.

We took another swim before we drove home.

I said, this is a game changer. I can't believe that something so small as moving a ladder closer to the shore could enhance our lives so much. 😂
