Father's Day

Father's Day turned out to be a celebration that spanned over a week. We had a lunch on Father's Day Sunday, with Mark and Mom, Diana, and Nick and had grilled brats and root beer floats. Jake ended up being out of town for work, so we celebrated the following Saturday with him and Brianna, and they took us out to eat at Rey Azteca. Katie was back in Maryland, but a surprise arrived in the mail ... a book of pictures of little boy and Pop Pop! The next day, we met up with Courtney and Prabhu, Diana, and Uncle Jim, and ate dinner at Maynards, then got ice cream at Licks.
This was fun!

Look at that sky...
We sat by the lake, and had an extra cool sky to look at while we had our ice cream. Even the rain was nice enough to hold off until we got into our cars to drive home!

Book Club Beauties

We were finally able to be together since before the pandemic began, and it was so good to be able to hug and kiss and catch up. I know we're technically a book club, and I'm sure that we'll actually read a book again in the future, but for today, we had more important things to discuss. A cabin neighbor, Nancy, suggested that perhaps we could ease into things by reading a poem together! I told the others about that idea, and we had a laugh, but now that I think on it some more, maybe that could be kind of fun. Today was hosted by Mona in her condo ... we had quiche, fresh fruit, scones, and blueberry buckle. Also, juice and chilled chai tea. Mona's husband arrived just as we were finishing up, and graciously took a photo of us together. Our next meeting will be here the beginning of August.

Little Boy's Grand Adventure

We had so much fun when little boy and Katie came to visit us! This time they flew in an airplane instead of driving, which turned out to be much easier than an 18 hour car trip.
The first few days were mostly settling in, and little boy ended up sleeping quite well in grandma's crib. He met a new elephant friend named Binky, just like Pinky back home, but blue. Of course, Binky ended up sharing crib duty with Puppy.
We had steamy hot weather while they were here, but we got into a routine that included a morning walk to the park before things got too hot. We sat on a bench overlooking the pond, and little boy ate snack and watched for honk-honks and quack-quacks.
Then, back to grandma and pop-pop's to swing on the blue swing (also known as blue swing blue swing).
Sometimes little boy took a nap after lunch, but mostly didn't, which was fine. Little boy's so clever and alert, he doesn't want to miss out on anything! In fact, I swear that when he first got here, he was just a baby, but within a few days, he had turned into a toddler. He started spending leisurely mornings in bed, practicing all his new words. He's very proud of all of his words. Punk Kitty. Minnie Kitty, and Trist Kitty are some favorites.
Besides trips to Target, Cub, and The Mall, there was time to check out the Cozy Coupe, and the little pool. Building towers and the corn popper were pretty exciting, too.
We also had a wedding to attend for Courtney and Prabhu. Little boy wore his yellow shorts, and looked especially fancy. The reception was a picnic lunch at the arboretum, and we were able to visit Grandma Gloria's bench.
We even spent a day at the cabin!
Of course there were people to see, like Debbie, Liz, and Aunt Diana. And we had a lunch with Grandma Joyce. One of little boy's favorite things to eat is spaghetti noodles.
They're back home again to Maryland now, but there may be another adventure coming up in August! We're so lucky ...
